SUNDAY NIGHT FAMILY NIGHT

We have recently started a new Sunday night tradition at our house that I love. After dinner and everyone has been bathed and in their jammies, we all snuggle up in the family room and turn out all the lights, light some candles and turn on the fireplace. Then Daddy reads out loud to all of us. It has become a treasured part of our week. We started reading The Book of Virtues for Young People. And we are now reading the classic Peter Pan. The girls really enjoy this family time. We won't even answer the phone during our family reading time - so if you get no answer on a Sunday evening, it's Family Reading Time!!

And before you paint too beautiful a picture of our sweet family moments, it all comes to a screeching halt just moments after the reading is over and life returns to normal. :)

What great memories you are building with your children! And, I'm glad to hear they are normal - just like mine :)

Another book to read is the only continuation of the adventures of Peter Pan based on J.M. Barrie's idea for more.

We've been doing the same thing! On Sunday nights! Great minds... However, it's the Ryan home, so we play Mexican Train, and laugh our heads off. And somehow, with 9 years between them, Cole and Austin could find something to fight about about every ten minutes. But it was music to my ears....

What beautiful memories you're creating. We love to read aloud as a family. But with your inspiration, I think this fall (when it gets cool enough for a fire), we'll move it downstairs and read to firelight. Thanks for sharing. Your transparency is often inspiration for me.

I am thrilled that there is now proof Richard can actually read :)

And now Philip has provided proof that the University of Florida does actually teach their students how to spell (or at least how to use a spell-checking program). However, all the spell-checking programs I have ever seen always say that Gaytors is the correct spelling when referring to UF.
